Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Her Western Work: "Nascent But Hopeful"

Changing Her International Career With “Heads of State” Priyanka Chopra Jonas

With desire and self-awareness, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a well-known celebrity in Indian cinema, continues to mould her path in Hollywood. The performer, who is well-known throughout the world, calls her career in the West “nascent,” indicating modesty and a desire to improve. Chopra Jonas recently spoke to PTI about her excitement about growing her English-language filmmaking and creating a body of work in the West that is comparable to her achievements in India, while promoting her most recent Hollywood picture, Heads of State.

Chopra Jonas portrays Noel Bisset, an MI6 agent tasked with defending the British Prime Minister (Idris Elba) and the U.S. President (John Cena) in a crisis in Heads of State, which is currently available for streaming on Prime Video. She intentionally looks for powerful, action-ready characters with agency in her work, and this part allowed her to do just that. She made it clear that she wanted to portray women who were more than just decorative, picking parts that would enable her to make a significant contribution to the story.

Chopra Jonas reflected on her 20-year career, saying it has been a process of “constant evolution,” from her first appearance in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy to her current collaborations with international celebrities in high-profile Hollywood projects. She insists, however, that she is still expanding her Western portfolio and is hopeful about the future.

Speaking kindly of her co-star John Cena, Chopra Jonas added that although they started their careers in the early 2000s, Heads of State was their first joint project. She said that Cena’s attitude added a natural spark to the set and commended him for his comedic timing and improvisational skills.

Chopra Jonas praised her stunt crew and director Ilya Naishuller for their skilful and imaginative execution of the movie’s action scenes. She underlined that the ability and assistance of the technical crew behind the scenes greatly influences how well an actor performs in roles that need a lot of motion.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s performance with Heads of State not only demonstrates her flexibility but also reaffirms her desire to play significant, prominent parts in Hollywood. As one of the few South Asian performers who regularly appears in prominent Western films, she keeps making waves. Additionally, Chopra Jonas conveys that she has no plans to slow down—only to move forward with curiosity, courage, and clarity—by stating that her career in the West is still in its early phases.
