RCB to face Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 Final

A new chapter in IPL history will begin when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2025 IPL Final, which will be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. With both teams vying for their first championship, viewers can expect a high-stakes matchup full of huge performances and emotional drama.

RCB’s breakthrough season

After years of heartbreak, RCB eventually delivered on their promises in 2025. They’ve achieved a blend of firepower and discipline under Faf du Plessis’ leadership and Andy Flower’s coaching advice.

Their campaign was highlighted by Virat Kohli’s brilliance, who has scored over 700 runs this season. A century against the Rajasthan Royals and an 85 in Qualifier 1 against the Chennai Super Kings marked his return to top form. Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green have supported the middle order, giving depth and ferocity to the batting.

Mohammed Siraj and Wanindu Hasaranga have developed a formidable bowling combo. Siraj’s swing with the new ball, combined with Hasaranga’s control in the middle overs, has made it difficult to score against RCB. Their performance in Qualifier 1, particularly Hasaranga’s four-wicket haul and Kohli’s match-winning knock, helped them defeat defending champions Chennai and earn direct passage into the final.

Punjab Kings’ Historical Run

The Punjab Kings have had a fantastic season, reaching only their second final after the first in 2014. Under Shikhar Dhawan’s captaincy and Trevor Bayliss’ mentorship, PBKS has grown into a well-rounded, brave unit.

Power hitters like as Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, and youthful Prabhsimran Singh have fuelled their rise. Livingstone’s middle-order aggression and Bairstow’s dependability at the top have been crucial in close games.

PBKS’ true strength, however, has been their bowling. Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, and Rahul Chahar have consistently performed under pressure. Arshdeep’s ability to swing the ball upfront, along with Rabada’s lethal death overs, has given them a significant advantage.

Shreyas Iyer emerged as the hero in a rain-delayed Qualifier 2 against the Mumbai Indians. Chasing 204, the PBKS captain hit an incredible 87 off 41 balls*, including four sixes in the 19th over, to seal a five-wicket victory with an over to spare. It was an appropriate reward for a team that had fought its way through the eliminator.

Battle of Equals

Both teams concluded the league stage with 19 points, with Punjab edging out RCB on net run rate. Interestingly, the two teams played in the first Qualifier, with RCB defeating PBKS by eight wickets, providing spice to the rematch.

RCB has never won the IPL, despite reaching the final three times (in 2009, 2011, and 2016). For long-time fans of the franchise, this match might finally put an end to years of missed opportunities.

PBKS, who are typically regarded as underachievers, are motivated by a desire to change their legacy. Their only final appearance came in 2014, when they were defeated by KKR, but this time they have greater balance and form.

Key Players to Watch

Virat Kohli (RCB): Is the tournament’s leading scorer and known for his ability to deliver huge moments.

Liam Livingstone (PBKS): His raw power allows him to turn games around in minutes.

Mohammed Siraj (RCB): Dangerous with the new ball, capable of making early runs.

Arshdeep Singh (PBKS): Punjab’s death-over expert remains calm under pressure.

A historic finale

This final is more than simply a competition; it represents the culmination of years of preparation, rebuilding, and belief. A new champion will be crowned, and both franchises are keen to grasp the opportunity.

With high-profile players, daring strategy, and devoted fans, RCB against PBKS promises to be one of the most exciting IPL finales in history. Whether it’s Bangalore’s long-awaited redemption or Punjab’s emotional comeback, cricket fans are in for a treat.
